Gina asked me to help locate a Studebaker for her wedding day to drive from the church to the reception... I was able to help!

Back in March I found the following email:

I'm getting married this coming October in San Diego. I'm looking for a Studebaker to ride in on my special day.

My grandfather was an automotive engineer with Studebaker back in Indiana in the 40's and 50's. Since he is no longer here with us, I was hoping to have a Studebaker on my special day (instead of any kind of limo) to pick up my new husband and I up from the church and take us to the reception, as a tribute to my grandfather.

I looked on the website for the local Studebaker club. But when I looked at the member's cars I don't see any car with a back seat, so I don't think anything would work for us.

By any chance, do you know of anyone in the San Diego are that has a Studebaker (with a back seat), that may be up for chauffeuring a couple, for a short time, on their wedding day?

I know this is a long shot, but just thought I would try.

I responded with links to the SD Studebaker Club http://studebakersandiego.com/ and some other places to try... and Brian, the Pres of the Stude club was great ( I already knew he was! ) and was able to spread the word about Gina's quest, and put an owner of a '46 President in contact with Gina.

From Gina;

Thanks to Brian Bennion (great guy) of the SD Studebaker club for finding a perfect Studebaker, Sean-Colin Fort for offering his 1940 President Studebaker and being the driver and to David Hepburn of YourDayVideo.com for taking the awesome picture! :)

Thank you SO much for helping us! We really really appreciate it! :) It was a dream come true to ride in a Studebaker on our wedding day! Turns out the car used to be owned by someone in the Studebaker family and Sean-Colin's parents even used the car as their get-away car for their wedding.

Best wishes to you!
Gina :)

This is the best looking Studebaker design I've ever seen... looks like a '41 Willys

Nice rear bumper, the v shape and rounded ends look good
Simple and good looking hood looks just like a Willys American, and the dual grills look better than the 40 Willys, but not quite as good as a 41 Willys grill

One bent grill piece

This look anything like a Studebaker to you? I don't think so. But that's what all the
manufacturer stuff on it says it is. Better proportions than the business coupe Dodge too.

The 2nd annual Cool Classic Car Show, the Studebaker and Pierce Arrow get together

Notice in the below photo an STP sticker on the front vent cap

I don't remember seeing any tachs that actuallu spell out RPM into words before this one

Old decals, gotta love them
Multi colored engine bay, red, yellow, orange and black... quite the variety
With or without front bumpers... I like the look of the without

On the outside of the glove box is the single word, Vanity, and once the door is opened, the "Vanity" is ready for use, because they hadn't yet invented the mirrors on the top of the visors

I don't know what the letters stand for, I can only speculate... the pink color is just reflected from the full sunlight bouncing off the red interior onto the chrome
Such simply stated guages and radio face, how far they've changed since then. Now there are 3 FM selections, AM, XM, Sirius, CD, Mp3, blue tooth, and navigation. I like the look of the old ones a lot more.
Just 1 through 10 on the speedometer, no MPH and KPH nonsense, no numbers on the clock, no amounts to the ammeter or fuel gauges, just the ends of the scale. Cool.

Elegant interior

I like the full length brake lights

What a rare valve cover decal.

These are the instructions for removing the spare tire: "TO CHANGE TIRE REMOVE TOP BOLT AND DROP BUMPER" pat appd

One of the few cool brake lights with the car company's name in it
